DE Out in the Community

Over the last several weeks, DE has had the opportunity to participate in tours, meetings and special events that highlight the important of water management in the state. Here’s a recap of where we’ve been and the valuable days we participated in.

Jensen Precast Tour
The DE Team is always looking to deliver high quality and innovative solutions for our clients. Accomplishing this requires knowledge of the capabilities (and limitations) of products, materials, and specialty components. Recently, the DE Infrastructure Team was fortunate to join Jensen Precast for a tour of their Lockeford Plant where we received a wealth of information on precast technology and got to see first-hand their processes, production capabilities, and innovations. We’re thankful for industry partners like Jensen Precast and are looking forward to incorporating some of their products in future projects! A special thanks to Tim Pellegrini for hosting us!

California Rice Experiment Station Field Day
A group of DE team members attended the Rice Experiment Station’s (RES) annual Rice Field Day on Wednesday, August 28. Our team enjoyed hearing directly from rice growers and learning about the various research program at RES. Thank you to the California Cooperative Rice Research Foundation and the University of California for a fun and educational day!

Korean Delegation Tour
DE had the amazing opportunity to host a group from Korea comprised of educators, water managers and policymakers who were interested in learning more about Agricultural Water Management Plans (AWMPs). The day kicked off at Richvale Irrigation District (RID) with a tour of their main office’s SCADA systems and visited a SCADA site to talk more about flow measurements and their role in the implementation of Efficient Water Management Practices.

After touring the SCADA site, the group met with a few RID rice growers who gave insight to their rice cultivation practices. The delegation used this as an opportunity to ask their specific questions about rice cultivation and using district water.

The day ended at DE’s Chico office, where our team members provided a detailed presentation on our process of creating AWMPs for our various clients across the state. We are so thankful to have this opportunity to spend time and learn from others across the globe!
