Davids Engineering is providing engineering design, construction management, flow measurement, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) design and integration, and administrative support for Richvale Irrigation District’s (RID) in progress Phase I Infrastructre Modernization project. The project is part of RID’s comprehensive plan for system modernization and boundary flow monitoring developed as part of the 2014 Feather River Regional Agricultural Water Management Plan (FRRAWMP), which was updated for RID’s service area in 2015.
Elements of the project include the following:
•Retrofit nine existing check structures for automated water level control by installation of electrically actuated slide gates, water level and gate sensors, and on-site programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
•Flow measurement at four primary lateral division points by installation and calibration of open channel acoustic doppler velocimeters.
•Remote control and monitoring of automated water level and flow measurement sites by implementation of a new SCADA system.
The project will improve delivery flexibility and steadiness for 132 delivery turnouts serving approximately 40 percent of RID’s irrigated area and will reduce operational spillage farm deliveries through increased efficiency.
